~32″ monitors with a 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution provide a strong pixel density with excellent ‘desktop real estate’. The BenQ PD3205U is built around this foundation, with high resolution image editing and design work in mind. The stand adopts brushed metal with a dark matte finish, for a premium look and feel. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus a slender hard plastic outer part. The OSD is controlled by buttons and a joystick at the rear, towards the right side as viewed from the front. Or using the included wired ‘Hotkey Puck G2’ remote.
A 31.5″ IPS-type panel is employed with 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync is supported, including AMD FreeSync with a 40 – 60Hz VRR range. An anti-glare screen surface is used, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles are specified and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC assumed) colour supported. The monitor is factory calibrated (‘AQCOLOR’) with a specified average DeltaE
A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified for this model with AMA (Advanced Motion Acceleration) adjustable pixel overdrive, but as usual pay little attention to such figures. The stand offers full ergonomic flexibility, including 110mm (4.33 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. It attaches via a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ports face downwards beneath a removable plastic cover and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, USB-C (90W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), 2 USB 3.2 ports (plus 2 upstream) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A USB-C downstream port, third USB 3.2 port and 3.5mm headphone jack is located at the right side of the screen as viewed from the front. 2 x 2.5W speakers are also included, alongside KVM and PiP/PbP functionality. Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s website, with details on price and availability still to come.
