Possible configurations of Intel Alder Lake-S/P and M emerge

Please note that this post is tagged as a rumor.

Intel’s bigSMALL architecture aka Hybrid Technology is coming to desktop and mobile platforms.

Intel Alder Lake

Yesterday we reported on a leak detailing how the Hybrid Technology would work for the upcoming 12th Gen Core architecture, aka Alder Lake. The series will be Intel’s second series to feature big and small cores on a single die. The first Hybrid Technology-based series were ultra-low-power processors based on Lakefield architecture.

Alder Lake will focus on higher-wattage CPUs, the “S Series” is likely to be up to 125W, same as the Comet Lake-S series (at least for PL1 power state). The leaks also suggested there is Alder Lake-P, likely to be Atom Server series (as previous Intel “P Series”) coming. Additionally, Alder Lake-M is also rumored to appear, as reported by respected leaker from PTT forums, Sharkbay.

According to the data he posted, Alder Lake series would look like this:

  • Alder Lake-S
    • 8 Big Cores + 8 Small Cores + GT1 GPU
    • 6 Big Cores + 0 Small Cores + GT1 GPU
  • Alder Lake-P
    • 2 Big Cores + 8 Small Cores + GT2 GPU
    • 6 Big Cores + 8 Small Cores + GT2 GPU
  • Alder Lake-M
    • 2 Big Cores + 8 Small COres + GT2 GPU

Possible configurations of Alder Lake

This is not the first time we are seeing such configurations for Alder Lake-S. The very first leak from March also listed 8+8+1 and 6+0+1 configurations.
